Getting your 10DLC (10-digit long code) approved for A2P (application-to-person) messaging on Go High Level can be frustrating 😣
You’re doing exactly what you’re being told, and yet you’re still being rejected! 🤬 We’ve been there. LeadConnector is built on Twilio, and we were Twilio customers for three years. We know their business and want to arm you 🫵 with the knowledge 🧠 to navigate rejections and turn your traffic ON 🔊
That is—until Signal House’s native GHL integration (based on our highly-reviewed HubSpot app) is released, coming in Q2 2025 😎🙌 (with free phone porting for all GHL users 🙌). The 10DLC Lowdown:
10DLC (10-Digit Long Code) numbers leverage local area codes, fostering a sense of community and personalized communication. This makes recipients feel like they’re interacting with a real person, not an automated system – a crucial advantage for building strong customer relationships.
The approval process for 10DLC Registration is two steps; Brand and Campaign verification. You can think of your ‘brand’ as your Company, and Brand verification as verifying your company’s legal information, including name, EIN, business type, address, and support information. The organization who oversees this process is called “The Campaign Registry.” Your brands and campaigns are submitted through them; however, the campaign is reviewed by a Direct Connect Aggregator, or DCA.
‘Campaign‘ registration refers to the review of your messaging ‘use case,’ (for example, marketing, support, notifications, etc.), and how customers opt into and out of your messaging. This review is manual, conducted by an individual person (and can be a bit inconsistent as a result).
The Go High Level & Twilio Connection:
Go High Level uses Twilio for its messaging service (see how we compare Here).
They have their own internal review process (which is especially strict right now, as they’re attempting to finalize their final carrier connection), and send their campaigns exclusively through Syniverse, who themselves sends through InfoBip. This means your 10DLC application actually goes through a three-step review process:
- Twilio’s Internal Review: They functionally act as a DCA, reviewing your campaign against their internal requirements before sending upstream
- DCA1 Review (Syniverse): The DCA review process is conducted in earnest for the first time
- DCA2 Review (InfoBip, for T-Mobile traffic): The final layer of review
As mentioned above—this process is manual, and each DCA has elements of the submission/your website that they focus on. This functionally acts as a Vin diagram, where each review is an added circle, the center (i.e., approval) getting smaller as a result. This is why your campaigns are prone to rejection with Twilio.
Also of note, this means every message you send is going from GoHighLevel ➡️ LeadConnector ➡️ Twilio ➡️ Syniverse ➡️ InfoBip ➡️ Carriers.
Each link in the chain is a potential problem source, and adds latency to your messaging, doubling the delivery time of systems with closer carrier connections (Signal House as one layer between us and the carriers! 💪).
The Secret Sauce to Fast Approval:
- Provide Context: Don’t just fill out the forms. Proactively reach out to your Go High Level reps and explain your business, your customers, and how you obtain consent to send messages. Make sure you get confirmation from them that they’ve added this context to your ‘file’ so reviewers are aware. Plus, the more they know, the better they can advocate for you.
- Perfect Your Submission:
- Brand Registration: Ensure your legal company name, address, EIN, and organization type perfectly match your IRS records. You can find your EIN on your SS-4, W-9, or W-2. You can also obtain from the IRS directly. If you are a DBA, put your parent company as the “legal company name” and your company as the DBA. Use your EIN and website, and use your company name in CTAs and consent/samples messages.
- Campaign Verification: Craft a concise campaign description, clearly outline your opt-in process (who, what, when, where, how, and cost), provide sample messages for each use case, ensure your website’s privacy policy states SMS opt-in data will not be shared/sold to third parties for marketing/promotional purposes, and that CTAs have all essential elements.
Key Takeaways:
- Transparency is Key: Be upfront about your business and messaging practices, and ensure this context is documented
