What is 10DLC, How can it Improve Your Outreach, and How to get Started with Signal House

What is 10DLC Messaging?

10DLC (10-Digit Long Code) messaging enables businesses to send Application-to-Person (A2P) messages (i.e., via a system like Signal House) using local 10-digit phone numbers. This system is specifically designed to offer higher throughput and better deliverability compared to traditional Person-to-Person (P2P) messaging, making it ideal for marketing, conversational, and transactional messages.

Why 10DLC?

Higher Throughput and Deliverability

10DLC allows businesses to send highly-personalized, local messages with high throughput and deliverability (+95% on Signal House! 😎). This ensures your messages reach customers promptly and reliably, benefiting from a more secure and trusted messaging ecosystem.

Cost-Effective

Compared to other messaging options like toll-free numbers and short codes, 10DLC is more cost-effective—businesses can benefit from lower messaging costs and low monthly number fees.

Improved Safety and Reliability

10DLC messaging operates under the umbrella of “The Campaign Registry” (TCR). The process for registering your business is much simpler and takes less time than short code registration, while offering more forgiving compliance standards than Toll Free numbers, where the smallest infraction can lead to a revocation of messaging.

Benefits of Using 10DLC for Business Outreach

Improved Customer Engagement

SMS offers the highest engagement of any messaging channel, and 10DLC messaging offers the unique ability to put important messages in the palm of your current and future customer’s hands—boasting a 99% open rate and quick read times.

This makes 10DLC one of the most effective and reliable means of connecting with, and building lasting relationships with those who matter most to your business.

Scalability

As your business grows, 10DLC can easily scale to meet your increased messaging needs, with up to 50 numbers on a single campaign (and the option to add more at any time), while enabling up to 200,000 messages/day to TMobile customers, and 4500 messages/minute to those on AT&T handsets (see Here for a full throughput table and specific campaign types).

With higher throughput and seamless delivery, you can send more messages in less time without compromises.

Brand Recognition

Using a local 10-digit number enhances brand recognition and trust. When a current or future customer sees an area code they know, it increases the likelihood of a response. This, combined with personalized content for your target audience, is a level of comfort and familiarity that Toll Free and Short Code simply lack. Bottom line, recipients are much more likely to engage with messages from familiar-looking local numbers compared to alternatives.

How Signal House is Different:

Whether you’re a 10DLC novice or seasoned pro, you’re probably wondering what makes this solution different, and why should we trust Signal House with your 10DLC traffic. Here’s why:

Educating the Direct Connect Aggregators (DCAs) on your Business Use-Case

Delivering your company’s message to its customers and prospects is critical—we get that, and we ensure our upstream partners and the carriers understand that also.

Many of our customers have experienced message filtering and—in some cases—a full shutdown of their outbound messaging by their previous provider. Unlike traditional messaging solutions, we’re on your side. We educate our upstream partners on your specific message use-case, the types of messages you’ll be sending, and help you avoid key words that may trigger spam filters.

Essentially, we build the same trust and rapport between your company and the carriers that you would build with your partners.

Rapid Campaign Approvals

Messaging campaigns are how you register your type of messaging with TCR (examples include customer care, marketing, 2FA, political, etc.).

Since September 1, 2023, each campaign is manually reviewed—and those reviewers are looking for very specific items and key phrases. Our team guides your company through the campaign submission process, optimizing your language for campaign approvals and helping overcome objections quickly. Again, we’re on your side.

Rich, Easy to Navigate Analytics for Seamless Optimization

One of the reasons we built Signal House is because we tallied the sunk operational costs of navigating traditional messaging solutions. It can be impossible to find the analytics important to you and your customers to optimize message deliverability and responses.

We’ve changed that, with rich, powerful analytics filterable on a hierarchical, brand, campaign, tag, friendly name, number, and carrier level.

You’ll have every metric at your fingertips and our intuitive UX makes leveraging that information a breeze.
